DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

A man is recovering after being struck by a vehicle in northwest Dalton Sunday night.

Officials say 38-year-old Tyson Roberts of Rocky Face, was struck by a truck just before 11:40 p.m. near Chattanooga Rd. and King Rd.

The Dalton Police Department, along with units from the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol, responded to the scene.

Officials say 21-year-old Austin Allen was driving a maroon Dodge Ram truck, when he fell asleep at the wheel, and struck the victim.

Allen's truck then re-entered the roadway, crossed multiple lanes of traffic, hit two parked cars, and the USA 1 Auto of Dalton building before coming to a complete stop.

Officials say Roberts suffered serious injuries, but is expected to recover. Roberts was transported to Hamilton Medical Center for treatment.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the crash is currently under investigation.
