A report, released by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office, shows the man shot and killed by an East Ridge Police Officer was shot five times, including once in the back.

Todd Browning’s official cause of death has been ruled a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds. Browning was shot from an “undetermined range” three times in the chest, once in the wrist and once in the back. The bullet that struck Browning’s wrist also struck his abdomen.

According to eyewitnesses, Browning approached officers with a knife before being shot by an officer on Prigmore Road.

The report shows Browning was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's not clear how many East Ridge officers were involved in the shooting, and their names have not been released.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating, but deferring all comments to the District Attorney, who is also not commenting on the case.
