CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Proceedings in at least one Hamilton County General Sessions courtroom have slowed this morning, following an incident involving at least one inmate being transported to court.

Court officials tell us a weapon was found on an inmate being transported to court Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for CCA Silverdale tells Channel 3 the incident did not involve any inmates from its facility, only county inmates housed at the Hamilton County Jail downtown.

Channel 3 reached out to jail administration and Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond’s office.

Hamilton County Sheriff's spokesperson Matt Lea said that preliminary reports from jail personnel are that "a makeshift weapon may have been used by one inmate in order to inflict harm on the other."

Lea described the incident was “minor” and no additional statements would be released. He would not comment on the weapon.
