Red Cross seeks volunteers to deploy to Louisiana

The American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee is seeking volunteers who are willing to deploy to Louisiana to assist with relief efforts in response to unprecedented flooding. The two upcoming training sessions will be held at the Southeast Tennessee Chapter office, located at 4115 S Access Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37406.

Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. – Virtual Casework Course
This course covers the skills and knowledge needed to effectively assisting clients with personalized recovery planning, supporting clients in problem-solving, providing referrals to other organizations, advocating on behalf of a client with a third party such as a landlord, and connecting clients to services provided by health and disaster mental health practitioners.

Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. - Disaster Assessment Course
The purpose of this course is to introduce the critical role of Disaster Assessment, explore related preparedness tasks, learn how to collect and communicate disaster assessment information, and become familiar with how disaster assessment information supports management and service delivery decisions.
