Land clearing begins this week for Chattanooga Unite veteran's center

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Crews should begin clearing land this week for the new Chattanooga Unite Veterans Resource Center.

The namesake comes from the city's response from the July 16 terrorist attack that claimed five U.S. servicemen's lives.

Land at 747 East 11th Street in Chattanooga was donated JoeDee Hulgan and family will be center's location, according to a news release.

The new center is the outgrowth of the Southeast Tennessee Veterans Coalition, described as a grassroots’ partnership with the Veterans Administration and the community to provide services to veterans and their families.

The land will be cleared by Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment, RidgeCut Landscape Company and DeMaria Home Improvements, who are also donating their time and services.

The center will have services such as  transitional housing, on-site counseling, a group room, healthy recreation and therapeutic gardening for vets.

The Chattanooga Unite Veterans Resource Center concept is to be proactive and treat veterans on release from active duty.

Chattanooga Unite is a positive remembrance of a terrible event.
