UPDATE: Identities released in fatal I-24W crash

MARION COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: The victim that died in a crash on Interstate 24 has been identified. 

Tommy D. Rogers, 42, of Mt. Juliet, was traveling eastbound on I-24 and going into a curve his vehicle flipped over the cable barrier and landed in the grass. Rogers, vehicle then flipped over the cable barrier for the westbound lane and was ejected from the vehicle. 

At this time, a vehicle traveling westbound on I-24 struck Rogers and the vehicle, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol.


PREVIOUS STORY: At least one person has been killed in a crash on Interstate 24 west this evening.

It happened shortly after 3:00pm near mile marker 163.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the crash involves a tractor trailer and one car. At least one person has been killed in the collision.

Traffic in both directions is affected. TDOT workers are rerouting traffic at mile marker 174 on I-24 west.

Dade County officials are shutting down I-59 west to I-24 at mile marker 169.

Troopers are asking drivers to avoid the area if at all possible and say the roadway will be closed for some time.
