Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart announces retirement
Earlier this month, Hart, 67, told the Associated Press that he had no interest in stepping down soon.
University of Tennessee Athletic Director Dave Hart announced Thursday that he will step down next summer.
His retirement is effective June 30, 2017.
UT Chancellor Jimmy Cheek accepted Hart's decision to retire.
As of 2015, Hart's base salary was $622,218 and his total compensation was more than $800,000. He has been UT athletic director since September 2011 and had about two years left on his contract.
