UPDATE: One-year-old child drowns in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga police confirm that the one-year-old boy drowned Wednesday at a Chattanooga home. 

Police are calling the drowning accidental. Police officers arrived at the scene and began CPR until EMS responded and transported the child.  

The boy died at a local hospital. 


PREVIOUS STORY: First responders are on the scene of a reported near-drowning involving a small child.
 
Hamilton County EMS were called to a home on Woodmoore Lane on Wednesday afternoon in response to the incident.
 
An ambulance was seen leaving the area. Police were asked to block roads to help the ambulance reach a local hospital faster.
 
At this time police tell us the incident appears to be accidental.
 
The status of the patient is not known at this time.
