The brother of a Georgia state representative was arrested today for what was originally reported as an accidental shooting.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk says Wesley Gage Weldon is charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a man on Potts Road.

The shooting was originally reported to be accidental; however, Sheriff Sisk says further investigation led authorities to believe otherwise.

Weldon, who is the brother of Georgia State Representative Tom Weldon, was arrested for the shooting.

He also faces four felony drug-related charges.

Records show this is not the first time Weldon has faced drug charges.

In March of 2015, our partners at the Times Free Press reported that evidence went missing after Weldon was charged in February for having drugs in his home.
