Good Friday! I don't expect much change in the hot, muggy forecast through the weekend, but their may be a glimmer of hope next week.
Today will be a sultry one. Look for partly cloudy skies and a high of 94. The heat index will top out at about 100 degrees. It will also be a little breezy at times with south winds at 10-15 mph. The chance for rain is slim, only 20% through the day and into tonight.
The weekend doesn't offer much change. The set up for the weekend involves a front over the Plains that will become stationary bringing soaking rain to them. Ahead of that front we will see a few scattered showers in the Tennessee Valley, but they will be widely scattered. The rain chance both Saturday and Sunday afternoon is 30%. Highs will be in the low 90s both days.
Next week offers some hope. While Monday and Tuesday will just be a continuation of the weekend with a high of 93 Monday and 91 Tuesday with only a few scattered showers, the second half of the week looks promising. The stationary front to our west will drift over us and park Wednesday through Friday. If that holds true, it will mean some good ground soaking rain. I am wary, though. About a week ago, the set up looked just about the same for THIS week, and it ended up being a bust.
