A truck driver from Apison crashed his semi Thursday morning while driving under the influence in Ohio.

Forty-six-year-old Anthony Ashe was arrested and charged in the crash, according to NBC affiliate WTOV in Steubenville, OH.

With Ashe in his truck was his nine-year-old daughter. She has been handed over to child protective services.

Ashe has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and child endangerment.

The crash closed U.S. 22 for several hours. Ashe was carrying a load of frozen chicken when his truck went off the road, hit a guardrail and overturned about 1:30am.

“He was obviously impaired. He admitted that he had been drinking. There was odor coming from him. There were different field sobriety tests that were given to him that showed us he was impaired," said Sgt. Jeff Bernard of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
