OOLTEWAH, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: A truck plunged into a pond off Mountain View Road in Ooltewah Monday morning. The truck has been removed from the pond.

Employees of Frost Cutlery tell Channel 3 that they heard a loud crash outside around 3 a.m., but did not see anything on the road. Later in the morning an James Colvard an employee at Frost Cutlery discovered debris and a truck in the pond and alerted authorities around 8:30 a.m.

"It wasn't until the morning time that I decided to take a look around and noticed tire tracks and signage all over the pond," Colvard said.

Police think the driver may have fled following the crash. Divers did not find the vehicle's driver.

Before crashing the truck knocked down poles, tore down signs and destroyed a concrete block.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident and attempting to locate the driver.
