One day after GOP nominee Donald Trump pointedly refused to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan in his reelection bid, his running mate did exactly that.

In an interview on Fox News Wednesday afternoon, GOP VP nominee said of Ryan: "I strongly endorse his re-election. He's a longtime friend, he's a strong conservative leader. I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States to rebuild our military, to strengthen our economy, and ensure that we have the kind of leadership in this country that will make America great again."

Asked about his running mate's refusal to endorse Ryan, Pence said, "I think what Donald Trump said is he is not there yet. These are two men that are building a great relationship and I am very confident that if Donald trump is elected president and Paul Ryan is re-elected to Congress and as speaker of the House these me are going to do great things."
