An early morning fire destroyed a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning.

The truck was parked outside the Chattanooga Labeling Systems company on Parmenas Lane. A large propane tank was between the truck and the building. Employees tried to put the fire out with portable fire extinguishers, but were unsuccessful, according to Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner.

Several fire department companies were able to get the fire under control and extinguished.

CFD Battalion Chief Chris Warren said the tractor-trailer rig was destroyed, but the firefighters were successful in preventing the propane tank from becoming involved. The trailer was loaded with empty glass bottles.

No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
