UPDATE: Man that escaped East Ridge police captured in Marion County
A man that fled police during a traffic stop in East Ridge has been captured in Coffee County.
UPDATE: A man that fled police during a traffic stop in East Ridge has been captured in Coffee County.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Department, along with FBI agents and Grundy County Sheriff's deputies arrested Brian Lee Cleckler after about an hour standoff.
Officers found Cleckler in a cabin just off Johnny Steifel Road in Marion County. Officers made contact with Cleckler who was in possession of a 9mm handgun and was threatening to kill officers and himself if they did not leave. Investigators eventually convinced Cleckler into surrendering to police.
Cleckler was taken into custody and he was also found in possession of 3.5 grams of Meth.
Cleckler was then extradited to East Ridge and is in the Hamilton County jail where he will face charges. The charges include, Tinted Windows Violation, Financial Responsibility, Driving on Suspended, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest, and Assault on Police, and Escape.

Police stopped Brian Lee Cleckler in the 6500 block of Ringgold Road because of a tinted windshield but allegedly found a trunk full of drug paraphernalia and fake i-D's.
When police allegedly found a small bag of suspected methamphetamine, they ordered Cleckler to get out of the vehicle and put his hands behind his back
That's when Cleckler made his tried to escape from police.
Cleckler spun around and hit one of the officers, injuring her wrist, before fleeing down the I-75 exit ramp and into the woods.
Despite a search by police k-9 units, Cleckler is still at large. Warrants have been sought for Cleckler's arrests for Tinted Windows Violation, Financial Responsibility, Driving on Suspended, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest, and Assault on Police, and Escape.
