CHATTANOOGA -

The Chattanooga Police Department is actively looking for two suspects who robbed the American Trust Cash Advance branch on Cummings Highway.

Just as the business was opening Monday, two masked thieves entered the business demanding cash while displaying a gun to the employee.

Investigator Wilbert McLean Jr. with the Chattanooga Police Department said the suspects proceeded to duct tape the female employee and placed her in the bathroom which is located in the rear of the business.

A second employee entered the building while the robbery was happening, police said the suspects duct taped him as well and put him with his co-worker in the bathroom.

Due to the circumstances in this robbery, McLean believes the robbery was well thought out

"They did seem to be prepared and if it were my guess they may have done this before,” McLean explained.

Pictures taken from surveillance video show the truck the suspects got away in. CPD tells Channel 3 they later recovered a vehicle matching the description, but could not verify if it was the same one used in the robbery.

The business re-opened Tuesday; employees from another branch are filling in for the two employees. Friends say the pair is too shaken up to return to work.

Police are hoping to learn who they are with the help of surveillance footage from nearby businesses. McLean said robbery of this nature hasn’t happened in the community in a long time.

"It absolutely is concerning because people are being held against their will has cause for concern,” McLean said.

The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Eyewitnesses were able to provide limited descriptions of the two men.
