Officials asking for information in Tellico Lake boating accident

Posted: Updated:

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is seeking information from a boating accident that occurred on Friday, July 15th on Tellico Lake.

Officials say the accident happened near the Rasar Landing Access Area around 7:30 p.m. Zachary Gordon, 24, of Maryville, fell into the water while wakeboarding. Gordon was then struck by a personal watercraft (PWC) carrying two passengers. Gordon, who was wearing a flotation device, was treated at UT Medical Center for a concussion and lacerations to his side, shoulder and head.

TWRA Officer Kip Kite shared, “We’re grateful Mr. Gordon had only slight injuries. We’d like for those involved to come forward so we can finish our investigation”.

The PWC is thought to be a Sea-Doo with green or blue seats and cowling, possibly an older 90’s or early 2000 model. This PWC, along with a second PWC were being pulled by a full-size black or dark grey Chevy pickup truck, possibly a 2003-2006 model.

TWRA asks for the parties in ownership of the PWC or anyone with information regarding these parties or accident to contact the Region 3 office at (931) 484-9571 or toll free at (800) 262-6704.
