A fight between two men in a car ended in a shooting on Saturday on I-24 in Marion County. They were heading to a Georgia drug and alcohol rehab facility from Nashville, according to Lt. Scott Evans of the Jasper Police Department.
Evans said Clinton Fielder was being driven to the facility by his girlfriend and his drug counselor, Timothy Pass, was in the car too. Fielder's girlfriend pulled off at exit 158 and Pass told police Fielder wouldn't stop fighting with him.
That's when Pass shot Fielder in the foot, according to police.
After that, they stopped at Love's Travel Stop and Pass jumped out. Fielder was taken to Erlanger Medical center for his injury and was later arrested for aggravated assault.
Evans said based on statements they took on Saturday, it's a possibility Fielder was mixing alcohol and prescription pills.
He was taken to the Marion County jail.
