CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

Members of the Cleveland Police Department are mourning the loss of one of their own tonight.

Spokeswoman Evie West says K9 Officer Tessa passed away after serving the department for six years.

Tessa was born in February of 2004 in the Netherlands and was purchased by Vohne Liche Kennels in July 2005 where she was trained to become a K9 officer.

She joined the Cleveland Police Department in November of 2005 to serve as a narcotics detector and hit the streets the following January with her handler, Officer Brandon West.

Tessa and Officer Brandon West retired together in 2011.

Tessa lived her final days relaxing at home.
