CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

According to The National Chicken Council, there are more chickens on this earth than humans. And some say something should be done about that statistic.

Perhaps that’s why they came up with National Fried Chicken Day. We humans had to fight back.

In this edition of ‘3 In Your Town’, we recruited some other humans to join our campaign. WRCB meteorologist David Karnes and my big brother, David Martin, decided to head to Champy’s on East MLK Boulevard, and eliminate as much fried chicken as humanly possible.

The National Chicken Council estimates the average American consumes more than 90 pounds of chicken each year. The three of us seemingly tried to accomplish that figure in one sitting.

And big news for Champy’s fans, the new location at 6925 Lee Highway is expected to be opened during the first couple of weeks in July.

Channel 3 is asking our viewers to submit people and places they would like to see highlighted in our newscasts. It’s simple, we want to know about good people in good places, doing good things.
