Tennessee Four-Ball Championship held at Black Creek

Posted: Updated:

The Black Creek Club of Chattanooga  hosted the 46th Annual Tennessee Four-Ball Championship this week. The tournament started Wednesday with over 140 golfers, before dwindling down to the final four Saturday.

Lake Johnson, who made the SoCon All-Freshmen team last year, was paired up in the final round with Scott Stephens, who recently finished his freshman year at South Carolina.

After thirty-six holes of stroke play qualifying and four rounds of match play, the two soon-to-be sophomores faced Jack Smith and Ryan Greer of Knoxville in the finals.

A birdie at the par-5 fourteenth placed the Knoxville duo in prime position, and then a birdie at the par-4 fifteenth by Ryan Greer sealed the victory for him and Smith.

The Four-Ball State Championship has been around since 1971, and since then has been popular for college athletes and amateur golfers across the state. This championship is just one of eighteen state championships that the Tennessee Golf Association conducts annually.

This is the third time the Four-Ball tournament has come to Black Creek.
