McClenney Wins Guntersville Kayak Bass Tournament

Posted: Updated:

GUNTERSVILLE (WRCB) - The Chattanooga Bass Yakkers and Southern Middle TN Kayak Anglers held a joint kayak tournament out of Stevenson City Park on Guntersville Lake Saturday, June 18th.  Three launch locations were allowed so all anglers had to use a little strategy to determine where they wanted to fish.  Thirty-five anglers launched out at first light determined to bring back the 3 largest fish of the tournament. In kayak tournaments, the format is catch-photo-release. Anglers place the fish on a measuring board with an identifying card, take a picture of the fish showing the total length, and then release the fish immediately.

At the end of the day, it was John McClenney taking home the win with a total of 53.00” in 3 fish.  Not far behind in second place was Josh Revis with a 3-fish limit of 51.75”.  Rounding out the Top 3 was Reid Harrington with 51.50”.

The Top 7 anglers from each of the 8 kayak fishing clubs in Tennessee will be invited to compete in the 2016 TN State Championship tournament.  There are still 3 tournaments remaining this season.  The next tournament is a night tournament taking place Saturday, July 16th out of Chester Frost Park on Chickamauga.
