HIXSON, TN (WRCB) -

A local family is staying in a hotel tonight after a crash sends a car into their home.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. at a home in the 7600 block of Cove Ridge Drive.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Matt Lea says a man lost control of his pickup truck while trying to turn left onto Cove Ridge Drive and crashed into a car parked in the driveway of a home, hitting the home itself before hitting a third car in the garage, pushing it through a wall of the home.

The driver told deputies his brakes were not working.

No one was home at the time; however, due to the extent of the damage, the family is staying in a hotel until their home can be inspected and repaired.

The incident is still under investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time.
