Walmart allows customers in GA, AL can use smartphone to pay

Posted: Updated:

MONTGOMERY, AL (AP) - Customers at more than 120 Walmart locations across Georgia and Alabama will be able to checkout using their smartphones.

Al.com (http://bit.ly/1UlK7Qd) reports that customers could start using Walmart Pay on Thursday. Company spokeswoman Molly Blakeman says the service also rolled out in three other southern states including Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Walmart Pay is already available in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. It will soon be available nationwide.

The service was announced in December. It makes Walmart the only retailer to offer its own payment solution that works with any iOS or Android device at any checkout lane with any major credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card - all through the Walmart mobile app.

Walmart Pay takes only three quick steps.
