You could say Head Coach Butch Jones made off like a bandit Saturday at Tennessee's annual Orange Carpet Day. The annual event has become one of the most important recruiting tactics used by the Vols in the past couple years, and now UT has come away with a giant haul of eight commitments from big-time recruits.
Tennessee tallied seven 2017 prospects and one 2018 prospect that publicly committed to the Vols Saturday.
Those future Vols include: defensive end Tre Lawson from North Augusta, S.C., wide receiver Princeton Fant from LaVergne, TN, safety Theo Jackson from Nashville, TN, defensive end Latrell Bumphus from Savannah, TN, running back Trey Coleman from West Monroe, LA, offensive lineman Jordan Tucker from Rosswell, GA, and Jaquan Henderson from Covington, GA. Those athletes make up the 2017 class, and are all three-star recruits.
The only 2018 commit, who is also the only four-star commit is safety Alontae Taylor from Manchester, TN.
According to 247 sports, the Vols jumped from No. 22 to No. 7 in the 2017 national recruiting class rankings.
