Tennessee church draws public response for anti-gay message

Posted: Updated:

An anti-gay message posted outside of an East Tennessee church Tuesday has drawn public response for its negativity in the wake of Saturday’s shooting in Orlando.

The message, posted in front of Beech Cliff Pentecostal Holiness Church in Johnson City, read, “God’s wrath may be getting started to fall on the gays.”

The church pastor, who put the message up, said there wasn’t anything wrong with posting a message like that. He suggested the Orlando gunman’s actions could be the start of a showing of god’s wrath.

The message has been torn down since its posting, but the pastor said he plans to replace it.

The Orlando shooting took place in a gay nightclub and claimed the lives of 49 victims.
