The University of Tennessee has canceled classes on the day of the Vols' season-opening football game against Appalachian State.
The home football game was moved to Sept. 1, a Thursday, last month to adjust for ESPN and SEC Network needs. On Tuesday, the university announced that there will be no classes and most campus offices will be closed that day.
"This is necessary to accommodate the traffic, parking and security measures that accompany game day," according to a news release.
