CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Chattanooga Bass Yakkers held their 5th tournament of the 2016 tournament trail out of Marion County Park on Nickajack Lake Saturday, June 4th. Four launch locations were allowed so all anglers had to use a little strategy to determine where they wanted to fish. Eighteen anglers launched out at first light determined to bring back the 3 largest fish of the tournament. In kayak tournaments, the format is catch-photo-release. Anglers place the fish on a measuring board with an identifying card, take a picture of the fish showing the total length, and then release the fish immediately.
At the end of the day, it was Erik “The Mailman” Greywitt taking home the win with a total of 51.75” in 3 fish. Erik caught fish consistently using a wacky rigged senko targeting backwater areas. Not far behind in second place was Cord Dyer with a 3-fish limit of 50.00”. Rounding out the Top 3 was Jody Campbell with 49.25”
The Top 7 anglers from each of the 8 kayak fishing clubs in Tennessee will be invited to compete in the 2016 TN State Championship tournament. There are still 3 tournaments remaining this season. The next tournament will take place Saturday, June 18th out of Stevenson Park on Guntersville.
