UTC golfers take action on national stage
Two current and two alums of the Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is in action on the national stage.
(UTC Media Relations)- Two current and two alums of the Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is in action on the national stage. Rising sophomores Lake Johnson, a Chattanooga native, Etienne Brault and alum Derek Rende are preparing for Monday U.S. Open Sectionals, while former All-American Stephan Jaeger is in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on the Web.com Tour.
Johnson, a graduate of Chattanooga Christian School, and Rende, a Soddy Daisy grad, are in Memphis at the Germantown and Ridgeway Country Clubs. Brault, who sat out the 2015-16, is in Powell, Ohio at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club. Each plays 36 holes for the opportunity to qualify for the 116th U.S. Open June 16-19 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
Jaeger is battling for his first win on the Web.com Tour. A second round 62 gave him the 36-hole lead, while a 69 on his third card had him in third, one stroke off the lead, going into today's final round. As of 12:32 pm, he is tied for second at -20, two off the lead through 7 holes.
