Three arrested for theft and drugs

CHEROKEE COUNTY, NC (WRCB) -

Three people were arrested in Cherokee County, NC on theft and drug charges Thursday.

Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer said that  Robert Corliss Reed, 36, of Turtletown, Tennessee; Kellie Morrow, 38  of Murphy, North Carolina; and Brian Christopher Cordell, 32, of Murphy North Carolina were arrested on charges of theft.

Thursday morning, officers were dispatched to the area of Germy Hughes Road off Pack Mountain in Cherokee County to investigate reports of people stealing from a residence. 

When the officer arrived, the caller had cut a tree down to prevent the escape of the three individuals. The three individuals fled from the scene until they high grounded their vehicle and were later arrested.

Illegal controlled substances were found and seized during the arrest. The value of the property being stolen was about $2,000.

Morrow was arrested placed under a $1000.00 secure bond on the following charges:

  • Felony larceny, Mossess methamphetamine, Simple pos session Schedule IV controlled substance, Possess mariiuana up to 1/2 oz.

Reed was arrested and placed under a $1000.00 secure bond on the following charges:

  • Felony larceny, Simple possession Schedule IV controlled substance

Cordell was arrested and placed under a $1000.00 secure bond on the following charges:

  • Felony larceny, Simple possession Schedule IV controlled substance

The three are currently being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a June lst, 2016 Cherokee County District Court date.
