CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a brush fire near Amberleigh Ridge Apartments on Aventine Way.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the fire spread quickly and became a threat to some of the buildings in the apartment complex.

The cause was traced to two young boys, ages 9 and 10, who admitted to setting an old camping chair on fire in the woods.

When the fire spread, the boys said they panicked and ran away.

Officials say the fire scorched about half an acre of brush and trees. No buildings were involved and no injuries were reported.

Charges are pending against the two children involved.
