Eagles sign former Mocs DL Derrick Lott

Posted: Updated:

The Eagles added some more depth at defensive tackle, signing former Tennessee-Chattanooga lineman Derrick Lott on Monday.

Lott, 25, spent time with the Titans and Buccaneers in 2015. Lott finished last season on the Bucs' practice squad but was cut by the team in April. The 6-4, 314 pound defensive tackle played three seasons at Chattanooga after transferring from Georgia. At Chattanooga, he played 29 games (14 starts) with 114 tackles, eight sacks and 20 tackles for loss.

After Fletcher Cox and Bennie Logan, the Eagles don't have much depth on the interior line. They have Beau Allen, Mike Martin and Taylor Hart, along with a trio of undrafted rookies. Lott will be added to the group and has a chance to make the final 53-man roster.

To make room for Lott, the Eagles released punter Ryan Quigley. Quigley had been the Jets' punter for the last three years. That means incumbent Donnie Jones has unsurprisingly and easily won the punter competition.

The Eagles kick off their next round of OTAs on Tuesday morning.
