Chickamauga definitely showed why it is now known as a premier bass fishing lake in the South. There were six fish over 8 pounds and numerous fish in the 6 to 7 pound range weighed in during the two day event.

The 2 to 3 o’clock hour on Saturday proved to be the most exciting with the heaviest bass of the tournament being weighed in the last minute of by angler Rocky Sutherland from Soddy Daisy Tennessee.

With less than 30 seconds left on the clock Rocky Sutherland weighed in a healthy 8.98 pound bass to secure overall 1st Place in the tournament. For his efforts and great catch he won $1,000 in hourly cash plus a fully rigged Nitro Z18 powered by Mercury.
Sutherland said, “I caught the big fish shallow on a Soddy Custom Tackle chatter bait head”.
