Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Arrest records show that police were dispatched to a home on Ivy Street about 8:43pm Tuesday on reports of a domestic assault.

When Chattanooga police arrived, they found a woman who told them that Chattanooga Fire Department Capt. Kelvin Strickland had been drinking "a lot lately" and became verbally aggressive.

She said that she was lying in bed when Strickland began standing over her and cursing. The woman told police that she was trying to back away when Strickland allegedly began hitting her in the face and tried to choke her.

She was able to force Strickland off her and he fell on the floor, striking his face.
