Calvery wins Kayak Bass Tournament on Chickamauga Lake

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Chattanooga Bass Yakkers held their 3rd tournament of the 2016 tournament trail out of Soddy Creek on Chickamauga Saturday, May 7th. Nineteen anglers launched out of Holly Circle determined to bring back the 3 largest fish of the tournament.

In kayak tournaments, the format is catch-photo-release. Anglers place the fish on a measuring board with an identifying card, take a picture of the fish showing the total length, and then release the fish immediately.

Brandon Calvery, fishing in his first kayak tournament, took home the win with a 3-fish limit measuring 49.25”.

Andy Middleton turned in 48.75” for 2nd place and Erik Greywitt rounded out the Top 3 with 47.75”.

The big bass of the tournament was a 19.50” largemouth submitted by Justin Rongey.
