Two North Carolina sex offenders are facing additional charges and are set to appear in front of the Superior Court in June.
Cherokee County Sheriff, Derrick Palmer announced the arrest of Arnold J. Godfrey, 36, from Murphy on April 28th and the May 3rd arrest of Gabriel R. Palmer, 39, from Murphy for violations of the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.
Officials said both men had been arrested on indictments for violations of North Carolina Sex Offender Registry and had been released on bond pending their next Superior Court date. Both Godfrey and Palmer failed to come to court as required and warrants were issued.
In November of 2015, Palmer moved from his residence in Murphy as well as failing to return his verification form. Indictments were issued from the Cherokee County Grand Jury charging Palmer with two additional charges for the sex offender registry violations as well as indicting him as a Habitual Felon.
Arnold Godfrey also failed to report as well as returning his verification form. Cherokee County issued an indictment for additional sex offender registry violations. Including to this indictment, Godfrey was found to have a civil order for arrest for back child support.
Godfrey is currently in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $39, 762 secure bond with a July 11th Superior Court date.
Palmer is currently in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $120,000 secure bond with a July 11th Superior Court date.
