Chattanooga man back behind bars after fatal shooting
A fight inside Bella Vita's ended with the shooting death of 40-year-old Johnny Sanders, who was working as a security guard.
Chattanooga Police say a fight broke out inside Bella Vita's off Cowart Street early Sunday morning.
Police say when club security tried to control the situation outside, 31-year-old Andrew Wilson shot and killed 40-year-old Johnny Sanders who was working as a security guard.
Channel 3 spoke to the mother of one of Sanders' six children by phone Sunday.
Tangela Taylor told Channel 3 Sanders loved his children and would do anything for them.
She says he also loved his country and served in the military.
Taylor said she was sleeping when she learned Wilson was accused of killing him.
“If he could have known the person he took away from his kids. His kids loved that man to death,” said Taylor.
Taylor says she was planning to meet up with Sanders on Sunday.
“He asked me what was I doing today for Mother's Day, and he said he was going to pick me and my daughter up,” said Taylor.
Taylor says now Sanders is gone, she is left to raise her daughter by herself.
“I’m just going to be there for her every way I can, and keep her mind occupied,’ said Taylor.
Sunday morning’s shooting marks the second one at Bella Vita’s this year. Channel 3 reached out to the owner. He said he didn’t want to comment until he had all the details.
