We have good news from Hamilton County health inspectors this week.
The lowest score was an 84, well above the failing score of 70 or less.
A few of the low-scoring restaurants from last week also showed significant improvement on follow-up inspections.
The McDonald’s on Taft Highway in Signal Mountain originally failed with a score of 58. On their follow-up inspection, the restaurant scored a 90. Inspectors noted the restaurant had added soap and a working paper towel dispenser at the hand sink, put sanitizer buckets into use, corrected the walk-in cooler temperature and correctly dated their products. No moldy products were found and all chemicals were properly stored away from food.
The Sticky Fingers on Hamilton Place Boulevard scored a 71 and had to shut down until it fixed critical violations, including a sewage back-up, improper walk-in cooler temperatures and an “excessive accumulation” of mold in the main ice bin.
The restaurant reopened and scored a 95 on its follow-up inspection.
The Subway on Taft Highway in Signal Mountain corrected its score from a 77 to a 97. Inspectors noted good handwashing and food contact practices among employees.
We have one perfect score to share this week. Congratulations to Amigo’s Lounge on Dayton Boulevard for earning a 100.
