Upcoming area road closures

There are several area road closures in Chattanooga over the next few days.

Friday, May 6

  • Armed Forces Day Parade: starting at 8:30 a.m. Market Street from 12th St. to MLK Blvd. will be closed. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. and at that time Market St. from MLK Blvd. to 4th Street will be closed. Roads should be re-opened by noon. 
  • Nightfall: From 5:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Market Street from 10th St. to 8th St. will be closed and MLK Blvd. from Broad St. to Georgia Ave. will be closed. 
  • Bessie Smith: From 5:00 pm to 11:59 pm, MLK Blvd. from Georgia Ave. to Houston St. will be closed. NOTE: Georgia Ave. and Lindsay St. intersections will remain open with CPD officers to help cross pedestrians. Please watch for pedestrians in the area. 

Saturday, May 7 

  • 3 State 3 Mountain: Bike race will take place from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. Cyclists will be led out of town using Riverfront Pkwy. and Market St. Bridge. Additional closures include a lane closure on Cummings Hwy. from Broad St. to Browns Ferry Road. Please watch for cyclists on the road. 
  • Race to Read: From 7:30 am to 10:00 am, Race to Read walk/run will take place. The right eastbound lane on E. 3rd St. will be closed. Participants will continue on the Riverwalk. Please watch for participants at Battery Pl. intersection and police officers on site. 
  • Choo Choo Jubilee: From 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, the Chattanooga Choo Choo Jubilee parade will take place. A rolling closure will take place for the parade to leave Passenger St. onto Main St., right onto Market St. and end at the Choo Choo. Please watch for participants in the area. 

Sunday, May 8

  • Chattanooga Market: From 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Reggie White Boulevard will be closed from the entrance to the skate park to 19th Street. 

Tuesday, May 10

  • Police Memorial: From 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Police Memorial  will take place. Market St. from 8th St. to 5th St. will be closed. Detours will be posted.
