An Alabama man turned himself into the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office after he shot a juvenile in the hip during a teen prank.

Ronnie Lee Neeley, 64, of Sylvania, AL, was charged with two counts of menacing and one count each of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle and second-degree assault, according to a news release.

The shooting happened April 23, as the 16-year-old and some other juveniles were attempting to roll a neighbor's yard with toilet paper.

The victim was in the vehicle when he was shot, and later transported to Erlanger, where he was treated and released.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said “This is a traumatic incident that could have been tragic had the bullet taken a different path. We are very thankful that the child did not suffer any more injury than he did.”
