A passerby noticed an early-morning house fire on Springview Drive Wednesday morning and reported the blaze to 911.
The motorist noticed heavy smoke coming from the garage at the home, which was vacant according to Hamilton County Emergency Services spokesman Amy Maxwell.
Firefighters from the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department were able to find and extinguish the fire in the garage's doorway, preventing the fire from spreading further.
The assistance of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Arson Division was requested.
Officials reported the home was vacant and in the process of renovations. No injuries were reported.
Damages are listed at $15,000 and the cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
