UPDATE: Ninth shooting reported in Chattanooga since Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga police responded to a reported ninth shooting in four days near 700 Biltmore Drive in Chattanooga Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, Jackie M. Sawyer, 20, was shot in the back and the leg and is expected to be okay.  Chattanooga police describe the suspects as three to four black males driving in a burgundy colored compact sedan.

Police said multiple suspects fired multiple rounds from the vehicle, hitting Sawyer in the yard. 

The news of the shooting came as city leaders and law enforcement were holding a news conference to update the public on the recent shootings.

Prior to this, eight shootings have been reported in Chattanooga since Saturday.

Two pregnant women were among the victims, as was a 17-year-old who was fatally shot in the face.
