Generals Hand Lookouts 6-3 Loss Despite a HR by DJ Hicks

Posted: Updated:

(Lookouts Media Relations)- The Chattanooga Lookouts (3-6) allowed 14 hits in a 6-3 loss to the Jackson Generals (5-3) in front of a large crowd of 4,296 at at AT&T Field Friday night.

Jackson's offense got the ball rolling early when they led off the third inning with two straight singles.  With runners on the corners Guillermo Heredia hit a sacrifice fly to plate the first run of the game.  After a Tim Lopes double to advance Zach Shank to third, Lookouts pitcher Aaron Slegers threw a wild pitch to give the Generals the two-run advantage.

In the fifth inning the Lookouts chopped the deficit in half on a RBI ground out by Zack Granite.  The one-run margin did not last long as Jackson scored two in the top of the sixth.  Chattanooga continued to battle back in the bottom of that frame when DJ Hicks smacked his team-high third home run.  The dinger was not enough as the Generals tacked on a run in the top of the seventh and one in the top of the eighth.

Generals starting pitcher Sam Gaviglio earned his second win of the season while Aaron Slegers took his first loss of 2016.
