Posted: Updated:

A former Cleveland City Schools teacher assistant and football coach is facing drug and weapon charges.
Christopher Heath Weir, age 40, is charged with possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony,  drug possession and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Weir was booked in the Bradley County Jail on April 11 and released on bond a day later.
According to Cathy Goodman, Director of Personnel for Cleveland City Schools, Weir resigned from his positions as a teacher assistant and Cleveland High’s assistant football coach on April 7, four days before his arrest. Weir cited personal reasons for his resignation.
“I would like to resign my position with Cleveland City Schools,” Weir wrote in his resignation letter. “Thanks for the opportunity.”
According to Goodman, Weir has been an employee of Cleveland City Schools since 2012. He was also employed by the school system in 2003, but resigned from his position in 2007.
Channel 3 has reached out to Bradley County authorities to learn more about Weir’s arrest.
