Driver who hit Chattanooga firefighter pleads guilty

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

A woman accused of hitting a Chattanooga firefighter on East Brainerd Road last year pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Andrea Payne was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail.

Chattanooga police say Payne had been drinking at work before getting in her car that day.

She hit Chattanooga firefighter Larry O'Rear, who suffered serious injuries.

O'Rear was responding to an accident when he was hit.

He is now back on the job.
