UPDATE: Car runs down embankment on Cummings Highway

Posted: Updated:

A scary scene early Thursday morning on Cummings Highway, where a silver Chevy could be seen hanging off the edge of an embankment. A student on his way to Chattanooga Christian lost control of the vehicle and slid off the road. “I drive this way to school every day. I think it was cause by the rain last night, it was a lot worse,” said Cameron Webb.

Cameron Webb’s mom rushed to the scene. She says the outcome could have been a lot worse. “He should have kept going, huge rock in front of him, he came across traffic, no cars hit him,” said Beth Mansell.

She thanks the angels. “Angels protected him, every morning I pray angels protect my children.”

As Cameron Webb walks off with his arms around mom... And no major injuries he says he definitely learned a lesson. “Drive slower, and be careful. That’s what I learned,” said Webb.

No other cars were involved in the crash. Traffic reopened once the car was towed away. It's not clear if the wet conditions played a role.
