Country artists condemn LGBT laws, but labels silent

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Several country music artists and songwriters have condemned proposed laws critics say discriminate against LGBT people. But anyone looking for reaction from the record labels and production companies on Nashville's Music Row has heard only the sound of silence.

New laws in North Carolina and Mississippi have drawn the ire of businesses and celebrities alike, with Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams canceling shows in those states.

The debate shows a divide between the creative class of artists who can use their platform to speak out and the industry that stands to lose by taking a position. However, Diane Pecknold, who studies the intersection of gender issues and country music, says the industry has more to lose from politicians than from fans. She says contemporary fans are much more diverse than the stereotype of blue-collar conservatives.

There are 5 1/2 weeks left of the Meteorological winter and 8 1/2 weeks until the spring equinox. As air in you're home may still be dry from the cold weather, here is a quick way to detect if it's too dry. Do you get shocked? This is a sure way there isn't enough moisture in the air. H2O is a conductor of neutrons, electrons, and photons. When H2O is removed, or there is less of it available, dry air insulated the neutrons, electrons, and photons and allows these to get highly cha...
