Chatsworth firefighter arrested for Domestic Violence

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Chatsworth Police Department to conduct an investigation concerning the aggravated assault/family violence act committed by Chatsworth firefighter, Timothy Benson on Sunday. 

GBI says the Chatsworth Police Department and Murray County Sheriff's Office responded to the Benson residence after a call to Murray County 911, by the victim and her child, in reference to shots being fired and domestic abuse by Timothy Benson. When officers arrived on scene they were able to get Benson out of the residence and arrested. Benson's family has escaped the residence and gone to a neighbor's to call 911. 

Benson has been charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault/Family Violence, False imprisonment; possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony; possession of  Drug Objects; Family Violence Act; Count Criminal Trespass;   and Battery Family violence Act. 

Benson is currently being housed at the Murray County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
