A Chattanooga woman is behind bars after driving under the influence while her young children were in the car who were not using seat belts.

Chattanooga Police responded to a disorder with a possible intoxicated person  near the 900 block of  Moss Drive. Upon arrival, an officer found a SUV driven by Colleen J. Wright, 32, who had been involved with an assault and drove to Moss Dr. with her two children in the vehicle. The officer said that Wright appeared to have watery, red eyes and could smell a strong scent of alcohol in her vehicle.

The officer asked if Wright has been drinking and she said he had been drinking. At this time, the officer noticed two small children in the vehicle unrestrained. The officer asked Wright to exit the vehicle and noticed she had off and on and slurred speech.

The officer asked Wright to take a sobriety test, but Wright said she was drunk and the test would serve no purpose due to her condition. The officer placed Wright into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. While in custody, the officer found that  Wright's driver's license was currently revoked for a previous DUI.

Colleen Wright has been charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving with a Revoked License, two counts of Child Neglect, two counts of Child Restraint Law Violation, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.
