Man arrested for impersonating police officer

Posted: Updated:

Hamilton County police arrested a man Tuesday on charges of impersonating a police officer and public intoxication.

Police responded to a burglary-in-progress call at 1311 E. 17th St., and upon arrival, they entered the residence.

Officials say the suspect, Edward Allen, was laying face down on the floor in a back bedroom.

Police Officer Silva demanded that Allen show his hands, and he resisted.

Police say Allen said he was a police officer, and that they could not arrest him at the residence.

Allen was non-compliant with officers, and smelled strongly of alcohol.

Officials say Allen was eventually taken into custody after a number of other officials arrived, and he was transported to the Hamilton County Jail shortly after.

Allen was charged with aggravated criminal trespassing, public intoxication, impersonating a licensed professional, and disorderly conduct.
